In 1993 a 'Day' dedicated to dolphins and their environment was established on the island. This 'Day' represents a direct way to involve people of all levels and ages.
It is also a direct way to show our real concern towards conservation and educational issues, which brings our research programme closer to the local people and their needs.

Every year, children's drawings of dolphins, sea life and nature are hung around
the harbour and streets of Veli Losinj. Dolphin-day attracts people from as far as Germany. It helps integrate tourists and locals in a common cause, the conservation of the dolphins and the marine environment as a whole.

14th Dolphin Day turned into a weekend. As the number of events organised during the Dolphin day grew so much that it became impossible to organise them in a day, we decided to make it a weekend. Program prepared includes different content for all ages. Good atmosphere on the end of the day will be finalised by two concerts - local "Positivo band" on Saturday and "teh Flyer" on Sunday. Their concerts will be held on the square in from tof the education centre.

But, the Dolphin day programm will be different to all the others in one aspect. Our proposal for the establishment of the Losinj Dolphin Reserve has been aprooved. Therefore the Assistant minister of cultureMr. Zoran Šikić,will hopefully during the Dolphin day announce the preventive protection of this area. We will be joined by numerous other dignitaries too, so the Blue World headquarters will become the real center of the event. More on this subject you can find on www.blue-world.org/press.

Still, without your participation the whole Dolphin day would be useless. Therefore, as always we invite you to join us in games and competitions. You can become listed for all of the events in our education centre or on the site of the event.
