In collaboration with a local fisherman Aldo Lukšić, in the past month our team regularly took off to sea from a harbour in Sv. Martin, on the island of Lošinj, to take part in trawler fishing with the aim of testing the efficacy of a new generation of acoustic detterent devices in lowering negative interactions of dolphins with fishing activities.

Lowering the bycatch rate and harmful interactions of dolphins taking food from fishing tools as well as lowering the economic loss for fishermen due to damage to the tools and loss of catch are some of the main goals of the LIFE DELFI project.

We invite you to take part in collecting data that can contribute to developing effective solutions for achieving this goal and to share your experience and observations. You can do this using the citizen science app Marine Ranger.
