The activities of the Blue World Institute of Marine Research and Conservation are organized in three programmes – research, education and conservation. The first focuses on large marine vertebrates (mostly Cetaceans, sea turtles and cartilaginous fish) aiming at improving their protection and conservation; research results support the education and public engagement activities.
Our offices and field activities are based in Adriatic islands as part of our contribution to the sustainable development of local communities. Most of the Blue World Institute’s work takes place in the northern and central Adriatic, in the islands of Lošinj , Murter and Vis. The Blue World Institute cooperates with many other institutions, NGOs and authorities on the development of conservation policies for the protection of the Adriatic Sea.
