Dolphin Day 2025 Celebrated on Lošinj with Community, Science, and the Sea

On 1.7.2025 the Blue World Institute hosted the 33rd Dolphin Day on the island of Lošinj, bringing together visitors, locals, scientists, and sea lovers to celebrate and learn about dolphins and marine conservation.

Held in Veli Lošinj, the event aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting dolphins and their habitat in the Adriatic Sea. Through a day of educational activities, interactive workshops, presentations, and games participants of all ages had the chance to engage with marine research in an accessible and enjoyable way.

The program included:

  • Free entrance to the Lošinj Marine Education Centre
  • Exhibition of local photographer Sara Širola
  • Short talks by our researchers about underwater noise
  • Creative workshops and painting for children while listening to underwater sounds
  • Treasure hunt game for the children

By connecting the public directly with ongoing marine research and conservation work, Dolphin Day helps foster greater appreciation for the sea and its inhabitants. As one of our core outreach events, it reflects the Blue World Institute’s long-standing commitment to science, education, and community engagement.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us on this special day, as well as our volunteers, partners, and supporters who make events like these possible.

If you couldn’t attend Dolphin Day 2025, you can still get involved—adopt a dolphin, support our programs, or plan your visit to Lošinj. Because every action counts when it comes to protecting the sea.
