Blue World Institute has celebrated World Ocean Day by organising a lecture “Sea of Noise” in collaboration with Lošinj Museum at Museum of Apoxyomenos in Mali Lošinj. The main goal was to raise public awareness about underwater noise pollution and its effects on marine organisms. Results from previous research of underwater noise in the Adriatic Sea were presented together with introduction to activities of ongoing UNDERSEA project co-funded by Interreg Italy-Croatia programme. All participants joined discussion about recommended measures for noise pollution reduction and future actions of the European Union within Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
