World Sea Turtle Day takes place every year on 16th of June. This year, as a part of the educational activities on LIFE Euroturtles project, with the support from Mali Lošinj Tourist Board, Blue World Institute celebrated this important date by organizing workshop for children at the Ridimutak Beach at the island of Lošinj. At the workshop children had the opportunity to learn about biology and life cyclus of sea turtles. Most atractive part of the workshop was presentation of sea turtle’s nesting on a sandy beach with the help of stuffed loggerhead turtle. Additionaly, children have learned about the major threats that sea turtles are faceing – entangelment in fishing tools and marine litter. Our aim was to point out at the importance of reducement of single-use plastics in everyday life.
