The Blue World Institute celebrated World Sea Turtle Day on 16th of June 2016. in the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Mali Lošinj. Children of all ages arrived to enjoy numerous art and learning activities including painting their own ceramic sea turtles and engaging with researchers about the anatomy and mysterious life history of these magnificent aquatic reptiles. In the Adriatic Sea, the Loggerhead sea turtle is commonly found however the children were introduced to the 7 different species of sea turtle found all over the world. The program ended with a conversation about the effect of our actions on land on those that live in the sea. Kids learned easy solutions to saving energy and reducing waste in order to live harmoniously with our sea-faring friends. All in all, it was a pleasant affair and both children and adults left with unique art projects and increased knowledge about the amazing life of sea turtles.
