At the Blue World Institute we celebrated the World Sea Turtle Day on 16th of June by organizing educational workshop on the boat at Zabodarski Bay at the island of Lošinj. The event was supported by the City of Mali Lošinj and Mali Lošinj Tourist Board. In total, 30 children and their parents participated in the workshop held on the excursion boat „Krško“. The educators from the Blue World Institute presented them main facts on sea turtle’s biology and ecology. Special emphasis was put on the threats that sea turtles encounter during their life cycle and relevant conservation measures focusing on the responsible human behaviour towards the marine environment that we should all implement. Every day we are witnessing huge amounts of plastic waste entering marine ecosystems from many different sources, threatening directly the sea turtles and other marine organisms. Therefore, during our workshop we tried to draw special attention of children on how essential it is that we all act to reduce the amount of plastic that we use in the everyday’s life.
